Autumn 1 2017

{ Edit }
Welcome to Reception, the children have settled very well in their first week- enjoying taking part in the phonics, maths and literacy lessons , meeting their teachers and making new friends. This half term we will be basing our learning on the “Big Question” -“What Makes Us Special ?”.
The children have brought a topic web home , which outlines some of the areas we will be looking at.
We will be reading the big books “How Are You Feeling Today?”, “Totally Wonderful Miss Plumberry”, “You Choose” and “Wanda’s Space Party”. The children will have lots of opportunities to explore and develop their emotional awareness- talking about different feelings and behaviours and also looking at their similarities and differences. We will be painting self portaits and pictures of the things they like to do . We will be visiting the park to look for signs of Autumn- collecting conkers, acorns etc. to put on our investigation table – and use in maths for a counting activity.
Each classroom has a maths and literacy display board where you will be able to see what the weeks focus is and look for some of the children’s learning. Their is also a small noticeboard just outside each classroom where newsletters and key dates are available for you to read or photograph. Each week we will put a brief outline of the next weeks activities and learning at the bottom of the home learning and also as a post on this blog ( you can find it on the bar at the top.
